Brittany Ferries Charters Vizzavona for the Cherbourg–Rosslare Route

Brittany Ferries is strengthening its ferry service between France and Ireland by chartering the Ro-Pax ferry currently operating under the name Vizzavona. From March 2027, the vessel is scheduled to operate under the new name Wexford on the Cherbourg–Rosslare route, replacing the currently chartered Norbay.

With the new vessel, Brittany Ferries is further strengthening its connection between France and Ireland. Three round trips per week between Cherbourg and Rosslare are planned. Together with the other vessels operating on the route, this will provide up to seven weekly round trips between Rosslare and Cherbourg.

More capacity for freight traffic

The deployment of the Wexford is also of interest for international freight transport. The vessel offers approximately 2,500 lane metres, providing substantial capacity for freight transport. For freight forwarders and transport companies, this means additional options for transporting trucks with drivers, tractor-trailers and unaccompanied trailers between Ireland and mainland Europe.

The Wexford will operate under the French flag and will be crewed by French seafarers. By replacing the Norbay with a Ro-Pax vessel, Brittany Ferries is combining increased freight capacity with greater passenger capacity.
