Finnlines Expands Capacity on the Zeebrugge–Rosslare Route
Finnlines is further strengthening its service between Belgium and Ireland. In response to growing demand for direct connections between Ireland and mainland Europe, the shipping company has deployed a second RoRo vessel on its Zeebrugge–Rosslare route. The move is designed to increase freight capacity and improve sailing frequency.
The additional vessel, Lismore, has joined the Finnwave on the route. With the expanded service, Finnlines now offers three round trips per week, providing a total of six weekly departures between the two ports.
Over the past few years, the Zeebrugge–Rosslare service has established itself as an important alternative for freight transport between Ireland and continental Europe. Through the hub in Zeebrugge, customers also benefit from connections to a wide range of European markets, including Finland, Poland, Spain, and the United Kingdom.
By adding further capacity, Finnlines is responding to continued growth in transport demand. The second vessel not only provides additional freight space but also enhances the flexibility and reliability of the service. Both RoRo vessels deployed on the route offer capacity for approximately 260 trailers and are specifically designed to accommodate both accompanied and unaccompanied freight traffic.
For freight forwarders and shippers, the expansion represents a further strengthening of direct maritime links between Ireland and mainland Europe. Against the backdrop of supply chain resilience and the continued importance of Brexit-related routing alternatives, the Zeebrugge–Rosslare corridor is expected to play an increasingly significant role in European freight transport.
